Interesting words (learn them and use them with friends to feel like real smartypants marine biologists!)
USO (Unidentified Submerged Object): You know UFOs, unidentified flying objects? Pretty much the same thing, but for things that aren't flying, but submerged. The U.S. Navy classifies USOs as large marine creatures that can interfere with ship maneuvers, sonar operations, and oceanographic research, such as sharks, whales, and other such creatures. So USOs aren't aliens, but anything the crew doesn't bother to identify. Pft, lazy.
